Last Night

Rarely is a Friday Night of college basketball during the regular season this interesting. Quick rundown:

-Pitt wins an incredible three-overtime thriller against bitter rival West Virginia at the "Oakland Zoo." Pitt jumps up to the middle of the 3 line, while the Mountaineers remain atop the 3 line. There's really no reason to knock them down below Ohio State after that game.

-Cornell drops a head-scratcher at Penn 79-64, who were just 3-15 entering the contest. They drop from the 11 line to the bottom of the 12 line behind Cal.

-Siena's 15-game win streak, which was the longest current win streak in the country, was snapped at Niagara, a team they pounded by 18 points at home earlier in the season. The Saints fall from the bottom of the 12 line to the 13 line behind projected WAC Champion Utah State.

Games to keep on eye on Saturday:

Tennessee at Kentucky, 9pm ESPN

Maryland at Duke, 1pm CBS

Northern Iowa at Bradley, 2pm

New Mexico at Utah, 9pm

Georgia Tech at Wake Forest, 8pm

Rhode Island at Temple, 4pm

Cal moves up to a 12 seed with their blowout victory over Washington. They are now poised to snag an at-large bid if they don't slip up the rest of the way and lose in the conference tournament final (maybe even semifinal). Yay Pa(theti)c-10!!

Last Night

Illinois was the biggest winner of the night with their huge win at Wisconsin. They jump up two seed lines from the bottom of the 11 line to the top of the 9 line. They are officially off the bubble. The Illini still have a pretty brutal remaining schedule (home and home with OSU, @ Purdue, 'Sconsin), but they'll be in good shape as long as they win at least one of those games and beat Minnesota at home and Michigan on the road. That would put them at 12-6 in conference play, which would be more than enough to get in the field. Wisconsin remains on the 3 line.

Purdue leapfrogs K-State as the next 1-seed in waiting with their convincing victory at Sparty. The Boilermakers continue to be the favorite to win the Big Ten with the win. Michigan State drops to the bottom of the 3 line.

With the Wisconsin and Michigan State losses, Ohio State moves up from the top of the 4 line to the 3 line ahead of both Big Ten adversaries.

Vandy moves up two seed lines from a 6 to a 4 with their blowout victory over rival Tennessee in Nashville. The Vols fall to the top of the 5 line.

Wichita State's hopes of an at-large bid are no more with their inexplicable loss to Evansville. It was Evansville's first conference win this year.

Likewise, VCU's bubble officially popped on Tuesday with their overtime loss at George Mason.

Texas Tech sneaks into the final Last Eight Out spot with their win at Oklahoma.
