I will begin with a preface. From October 18 to October 23, two-aught-ten, rock-n-roll outfit My Morning Jacket chronologically performed each of their five studio albums cover to cover commencing with The Tennessee Fire on the 18th and concluding with Evil Urges on the 23rd at Terminal 5 in the Biggest of Apples. While the albums were performed in the first set of each night, the second set was dedicated to b-sides, rarities and covers, which ranged from artists as diverse as Erykah Badu and George Michael to Danzig and Black Sabbath. It was an unbelievable experience, to say the least, to attend all of these shows. No matter how trite frontman Jim James may have sounded each time (he did it a lot) he mentioned how special and surreal the experience was for the band, you could tell he was incredibly sincere, and truly felt blessed that he could share the moment with 3000 of his closest friends each night. And that is exactly how I felt. Hopefully these videos give you as much joy as they give me as I re-live one of the best weeks of my life.
So, anyways, I mashed a bunch o' youtube clips together to create a concert film of the first night. There were two original tunes that had never been played before, "If All Else Fails" and "I Just Wanted to Say." In three previous shows, I had only seen two ("Evelyn" and "War Begun") of these songs performed live, so this night was extra special for me.
I wasn't able to find audio/video of all the songs. All songs marked with * are not featured in the video. Link below.
